Steps to grow adenium from seed

To grow Adenium (also known as Desert Rose) from seed, you will need to follow these steps:

  • Obtain fresh Adenium seeds.
  • Prepare a seed tray or pots filled with well-draining potting mix or cactus mix.
  • Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil and lightly press them down.
  • Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil or sand.
  • Keep the seed tray or pots in a warm place, ideally around 70-80 degrees F (21-27 degrees C).
  • Water the seeds gently, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged.
  • Place a plastic bag or cover the tray with plastic wrap to create a mini greenhouse effect and maintain humidity.
  • Keep the seed tray in bright indirect light, but avoid direct sunlight.
  • Once the seedlings have emerged, remove the plastic cover, and move the tray or pots to a bright location.
  • As the seedlings grow larger, transplant them into larger pots or into the ground in a sunny location.

Keep in mind that Adenium can be slow to germinate, so be patient and don’t give up on the seeds if they don’t sprout right away.

Additional tips to help you grow Adenium from seed:

  • Adenium seeds typically take around 2-4 weeks to germinate, so be patient and don’t give up on them too soon.
  • Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, as Adenium seeds can easily rot if they are too wet. You can use a spray bottle to water the seeds gently.
  • Once the seedlings have emerged, they will need to be kept in bright indirect light. You can place them near a window that receives bright light, but avoid direct sunlight.
  • As the seedlings grow larger, they will need to be transplanted into larger pots or into the ground. Be sure to use a well-draining potting mix or cactus mix, and make sure the soil is not too wet or too dry.
  • Adenium plants require a lot of sunlight to grow, so make sure they are getting at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
  • Adenium can be fertilized once a month with a balanced fertilizer during growing season
